The SAVE LIVES: Clean Your Hands campaign was launched in 2009 and is observed every year on May 5 -World Hand Hygiene Day.

It is aimed at promoting and sustaining hand hygiene in healthcare and to bring everyone together to support hand hygiene improvement across the globe. For World Hand Hygiene Day this year, the World Health organization (WHO) calls on healthcare workers and facilities to attain effective hand hygiene at the point of care.
